Frequently asked questions

Does changing the milk change the calories?

Yes. Milk makes up most of a latte, so the milk you choose changes the total. The calculator estimates the change for whole, almond and protein-boosted milk on latte-style drinks. Other milks, and milk swaps on drinks such as Frappuccinos or shaken espressos, are marked "not estimated" and left out of the total.

How many calories is one pump of syrup?

It depends on the syrup. Five of the nine syrups and sauces in the calculator have a per-pump estimate; vanilla syrup comes out at about 15 calories a pump. The other four, including sugar-free vanilla, are marked "not yet estimated". Pump counts also vary by size, so set the number of pumps you actually ask for.

What sizes does Starbucks have?

Starbucks sizes are Short (8 fl oz), Tall (12 fl oz), Grande (16 fl oz), Venti (20 fl oz hot, 24 fl oz iced) and Trenta (30 fl oz, for some iced drinks). On the menu we read, iced drinks start at Tall.

Are seasonal drinks included?

We include the seasonal drinks that were on the menu when we last checked it (see the date below). If a seasonal drink is missing, it was not on the menu at that check.

Where the numbers come from

Base figures are the standard-recipe nutrition Starbucks publishes on its menu pages, read item by item (last checked ). Customization changes are rough estimates. Most come from comparing two Starbucks menu items whose recipes differ mainly in that ingredient; almondmilk comes from a March 2023 Starbucks guide; sizes without their own comparison are scaled by cup size. Options we have no estimate for are marked "not yet estimated" and left out of the total. Starbucks notes that customized drinks may vary, and baristas vary pumps and pours, so treat every figure as an estimate. This is an independent tool, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Starbucks Corporation; "Starbucks" is used only to identify the drinks described.
